Back to work for select sectors in Dubai

The government of Dubai has announced that it will allow select places and businesses in the emirate to resume work starting April 24.
The Supreme Committee for Crisis and Disaster Management, according to Dubai Media Office, said that the decision followed a careful evaluation of the results of the preventive measures that were put in place in the past three weeks. According to the committee, residents can leave their homes without permit from April 24 at 6 AM to 10 PM.
The committee also said that work will be permitted for six hours during Ramadan, and only 30 percent of the workforce shall come into office. Moreover, all employees should be screened upon entry to office.
Employees aged above 60 as well as pregnant women, meanwhile, will be required to work from home.
In addition, office canteens and kitchens, will remain closed.
According to the committee, the following are the places allowed to resume work:
• Malls and shopping centres
• Retail shops
• Open markets
• Pharmacies
• Money exchange
• Cafes and restaurants (no buffet or sheesha)
• Food services
• Delivery
• Social Services
• Laundry
• Beauty salons for men and women
• Medical facilities
• Import offices
• Manufacturers of medical equipment
• Factories
• Water and electricity
• Communication
• Media
• Ports, airports, and airlines
• Security
• Public transport
• Construction
• Hotels
Malls, in addition, will be open from 12 NN to 10 PM, but prayer rooms, cinema halls, changing rooms, and entertainment areas will remain closed. Children aged three to 12 as well as elderly aged above 60 will be prohibited to enter malls.
For transportation, the Dubai Metro will operate on April 26 from 7 AM to 11 PM. During this time, the number passengers will be restricted per cabin and all of them must wear masks. As for taxis, only two passengers will be allowed per vehicle.
Beyond these sectors, during the movement time, authorities will still enforce strict restrictions and residents will only be allowed to leave for medical emergencies. They will also be required to keep a safe distance of two meters between each other and wear a mask—lest they will be fined Dh1,000.
