Employees in the private sector in Dubai will soon be working from home following a directive from the Dubai Economy to have 80% of company employees doing remote work until Thursday, April 9.
The move is in line with the UAE government’s steps for preventive measures against the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the country.
“Dubai economy, as the authority regulating businesses in the emirate, directs all private sector companies and commercial establishments, to adhere to implementing remote work system for 80% of their employees,” said the statement.
The blanket statement, however, excludes employees working in pharmacies, cooperative societies, grocery stores, and supermarkets.
