Five members of an African gang were sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment and fined Dh250,000 for armed robbery in Sharjah.
The Sharjah Criminal Court convicted the five Nigerian nationals for their involvement in the armed robbery on a money exchange center worth Dh2.3 million in March 2019.

Reports state that the gang barged into the exchange shop around 11:50 p.m. after two days of plotting the crime.
The four members smashed the front window while the other one served as the lookout and driver for the group.
They then forced the manager to open the vault and proceeded to stole Dhs2.3 million in four different currencies.
They immediately fled the scene and hid across four emirates.

However, Sharjah Police were able to nab the perpetrators in 48 hours.
The suspects confessed to the crime.
