Some Chinese passengers were left stranded at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered a travel ban to and from China.
Two flights scheduled to leave the NAIA for Guangzhou and Xiamen were cancelled on Monday, according to a report of GMA News.
Chinese passengers of the said flights were frustrated because they were not able to board their flights.
“We’re all Chinese and we want to go home back to China. But due to the flights canceled, we have no flights to go home,” a passenger told the report.
Another Chinese passenger asked the government to allow Chinese people to fly home.
“If the government can give us some flights, even just a few so we can take Chinese back, and that we won’t allow Philippine go, that’s fine, no worries,” she added.
The Manila International Airport Authority, Civil Aeronautics Board, the Bureau of Immigration and airlines have started preventing foreigners from entering the country.
Filipinos will be placed under quarantine if they came from China, Macau and Hong Kong.
