A legal adviser at a law firm in Ras Al Khaimah is on trial on charges of forging official documents allowing him to defend a client in court although he does not have a permit to practice the profession.
The unnamed adviser denied forgery charges, telling court that he only used documents from his firms to defend his client.
But the court was told that the defendant has no authority to work in courts on the grounds he has not obtained a government permit to practice this work.
A lawyer defending the adviser asked for his acquittal on the grounds there is no intention for the criminal act, according to newspapers, which said the judge decided to issue sentence on Dec 30.
