UAE authorities have warned residents about a scam being spread through online messaging app, WhatsApp.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) advised the public not to believe online scam messages about prizes to be won on the occasion on UAE’s 48th National Day on December 2.
The TRA said the online scam involves an announcement about a non-existent prize will be sent via WhatsApp containing a link that if one clicks, would ask the user to divulge personal information.
Authorities urged residents to ignore messages about such promos.
