An honest employee at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) returned an envelope with $4,700 or at least Php239,079.
Emiline Herrera works as a food serve at Terminal 1 when she saw an envelope and thought that it’s already a trash.
“Akala ko po kalat lang siya pero nang pulutin ko, nakita ko na may laman na maraming dolyar sa loob,” she said.
It was later on discovered that a woman owns the envelope based on the lost and found section at the airport.
Herrera has been working at the airport for three decades and receives a salary of Php18,000 a month.
She said she refused to take home the money because she knows that the owner might be in need.
Airport General Manager Ed Monreal lauded Herrera’s honesty and invited her on Monday’s flag raising to be recognized.
