The Labor Department is fast tracking the agreement between the Philippines and Canada on sending 2,000 workers ever year.
This was announced by Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello in a statement after he signed a communique with Yukon, Canada officials.
The agreement is to bring 2,000 Filipjno workers every year.
“Naglalaman ang joint communique sa Yukon, Canada ng kanilang hiling para sa 2,000 skilled worker kada taon,” Bello said.
The secretary said that he was able to meet the Filipino community in Yukon and they are all satified with the benefits they are getting.
“Ang mga Pilipino doon ay very prosperous, at very happy. Kinausap ko ang bawat isa sa kanila, at lahat sila ay masaya at well taken care of,” he said.
Salary can reach Php80,000 to Php300,0000 for those newly open jobs for Filipinos which will include heavy equipment operator, nurse, cook, chef, engineer, caregiver, call center agent.
Canada says that OFWs can also bring their family to the country.
