Direk Joyce Bernal wants ‘happy’ mood for Duterte’s SONA, plans to add music, performers

Jul. 08, 19 | 3:55 pm

Movie director and producer Joyce Bernal will return as director for President Rodrigo Duterts’s fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 22.

Bernal held an ocular inspection of Batasang Pambansa on Monday to check the location of Duterte’s SONA.

“I want it hopeful and good. Sana yung parang masaya na kasi last year, anong nangyari? So sana parang i-set mo ‘yung mood ng lahat ng tao dito na, wag na kayong mag-away. Mga bashers,” Bernal said.

The ‘Miss Granny’ director was last year’s director when a coup or change in House leadership took place between Former Speakers Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Pantaleon Alvarez.

The House drama caused a delay on the President’s speech for hours.

Bernal inspected and checked for possible camera placements at the Batasang Pambansa.

The director is also mulling on adding live music and performers to SONA.

“Siyempre ‘pag malaki ‘yung pangarap mo, medyo dagdag nang konti ng budget. Pero okay lang, kayang gawan ng paraan,” she said.

Bernal is also prepared should the President go off script.
