Rizal police to face charges over 3yo child’s death in drug op

Twenty police officers of Rodriguez, Rizal will soon face charges for the death of a three-year-old girl in a crossfire during an anti-drug operation on June 29.

The mother of the girl said on Sunday that she would file charges against the 20 policemen, who were relieved from their jobs on Thursday.

“Relieve ay hindi sapat, para sa inosente kong anak. Hindi na maibabalik ang bata, gusto ko lang hustisya sa bata. Masakit sa ‘kin, hindi man lang siya nabigyan ng pagkakataon na mag-aral. Honestly wala na po akong tiwala sa mga kapulisan ngayon,” she was quoted by ABS-CBN News as saying.

Her live-in partner Renato Ulpina and Police Senior Master Sgt. Conrad Cabigao also died in the crossfire.

The mother said Commission on Human Rights offered to help her file cases against the policemen.

The local government of Rizal gave financial assistance to the mother of the slain child. She earlier said she had to reschedule the burial due to lack of money.
