2 former ABS-CBN personnel indicted in reporter’s sexual harassment case

A former official and a segment producer of ABS-CBN were indicted by the Quezon City prosecutor’s office on a charge of sexual harassment filed by reporter Gretchen Fullido, the Philippine Star reported.

The prosecutors disagreed with the decision of the management of the network to dismiss the sexual harassment complaint against former executive Cheryl Favila and segment producer Maricar Asprec, pointing to the presence of elements of the crime under Republic Act 7877 or the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act.

The messages sent by Favila, the report said, “signify double meaning as they contain sexual undertones” and deemed as a “request for sexual favors” by a superior with authority or moral ascendancy in the workplace.

Fullido, in October 2018, filed a sexual harassment complaint against the individuals as the messages they sent to her were “filled with sexual innuendos and even requested sexual favors” and that they allegedly “made it difficult” for her to work when she rejected them.
