Filipina en route to Abu Dhabi from Dublin deported due to lack of transit visa

A Filipino woman who was at the Dublin Airport to catch her flight to Abu Dhabi was deported back to Wales because she didn’t have an Irish visa.

Guadalupe Tiongco was about to fly home to the Philippines from the Cardiff Airport in Wales via three connecting flight.

She said that she planned to go home because she was going to apply for a new family visa in the Philippines.

Tiongo was to start her journey home on May 28 flying from Cardiff Airport to Dublin, Dublin to Abu Dhabi, and then Abu Dhabi to Manila, reported Irish Mirror.

She made it through her first flight and landed at Dublin Airport where she was going to catch her second transfer to Abu Dhabi.

However, the 48-year-old was no longer able to continue the rest of her trip as she was apprehended in Dublin by border officials.

Her husband, Andrew Powell, who works as a catering manager from Brecon, said that his wife was taken to a room with no furniture where she stayed the entire day before getting deported back to Cardiff.

The couple said they were unaware Tiongco would need a visa to catch a connecting flight in Ireland.

The Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS) said on its website that passengers need a Transit Visa to travel through an Irish airport/seaport on their way to another destination.
