A 40-year-old Saudi national died while shopping as the roof of the commercial center in East Jeddah, where he was, fell down on him, the Saudi Civil Defense reported.
Electricity supply was turned off by authorities soon as the accident happened. Shoppers were also asked to evacuate as a precautionary measure.
Col. Saeed Sarhan, spokesperson of the Saudi Civil Defense, told Saudi Gazette the man was already dead when the rescue team pulled him out of the debris.
The victim was immediately sent to the morgue.
