Drunk woman on visit visa jailed after showing aggressive behavior

A woman who verbally and physically assaulted two police officers in Dubai was sentenced to 6 months in jail.

As per the public prosecution records, the 32-year old woman who was on visit visa had been under the influence of alcohol when she kicked a policewoman as she did not want to be handcuffed.

The woman also grabbed her hand by force, insulted her and even threatened to slay a police lieutenant, reports Khaleej Times.

The Court of First Instance found the defendant guilty of consuming alcohol without a licence, along with verbal abuse, assault, and threatening on-duty police officers.

The court has also ordered her deportation upon completion of her jail term.

A police who was on duty recalls being contacted about a ruckus outside a residential building in Jebel Ali. “When I reached the place, the security guard told me the woman – the defendant – had arrived and was behaving erratically. She wanted to get inside even though she was not a resident.”

A policewoman said she was assigned by the on-duty lieutenant to take the defendant out of the police car and get her inside the detention. “She was in a mess and heavily drunk. She was yelling hysterically and kept falling down. I was trying to help her stand up in vain. She asked for water then spit it from her mouth towards us. She would not let me handcuff her and take her inside. She used offensive language against us,” shares the policewoman as per a report from Khaleej Times.

The ruling has been appealed.
