POEA warns aspiring OFWs vs. job posts on social media

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) on Tuesday, December 11, reminded aspiring OFWs of the dangers of job opportunities abroad posted on social media.

In an interview with Super Radyo dzBB, POEA administrator Bernard Olalia advised jobseekers to visit POEA’s website instead for legitimate job offers abroad.

“Pumunta lamang po sila sa POEA official website. Huwag po sila basta-bastang papasok sa social media, napakarami pong offer sa social media. Hindi po totoo lahat ng nanduduon,” Olalia said.

Olalia advised jobseekers to know the minimum skills required for the job position and to learn the culture of the possible deployment country.

Olalia also underscored that jobseekers must check the job offers with POEA to avoid falling victims to recruitment scams.
