Two Filipino waiters were handed jail terms on Tuesday, November 27, for stabbing a compatriot at a flat in Al Muraqqabat, Dubai.
The waiters, aged 32 and 33, stabbed a fellow Filipino in the shoulder and stomach after the latter confronted them for stalking one of his female friends.
According to one of the victim’s friends, their group of friends were leaving the building of victim’s home, who they visited, when the waiters assaulted one of their female friends inside the elevator.
The group then decided to return to the victim’s flat to tell him about what happened.
The victim decided to confront the waiters, however, the confrontation got heated up and one of the waiters stabbed the victim in the shoulder and stomach.
At the court, one of the waiters said he only stabbed the victim for self-defense because the latter attacked him first.
The 33-year-old suspect was sentenced to three months in jail on top of Dh2,000 fine and immediate deportation.
The 32-year-old suspect, meanwhile, was sentenced to one year in prison with Dh5,000 fine and immediate deportation.
