The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) on Tuesday, November 6, launched the OFW electronic card (e-card) that would give overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) easier access to the services offered by the administration.
According to OWWA Administrator Hans Cacdac, OFWs can simply present their e-cards when applying for or availing of different government services and benefits such as scholarship grants for their children and training programs, reported Rappler.
Aside from this, OFWs may also use the e-card as a valid ID.
“The card will benefit OFWs in many ways possible. It’s not just a proof of membership, but it also provides easier access to programs. It also functions as a valid ID for DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs), POEA (Philippine Overseas Employment Administration), OWWA, Bureau of Immigration, and Philippine Overseas Labor Offices,” Cacdac said.
During the event, a total of 31 e-cards were released.
How can OFWs apply for the e-card?
OFWs who are active members with valid passport and overseas employment certificates are qualified to apply for the e-cards.
OFWs need to visit OWWA’s website and answer the application form.
The e-cards are free-of-charge and may be claimed by the OFW upon his/her return or by any family member as long as an authorization letter and a copy of the OFWs passport are provided.
