WATCH: Dubai restaurant offers free meals for jobseekers

If you happen to pass by this restaurant in Dubai while going to a walk-in job application, ask for a meal and they will serve you one for free.

Vlogger Khalid Al Ameri featured the restaurant The Kebab Shop located in the Dubai Silicon Oasis in one of his videos.

The restaurant is famous for offering free meals to job seekers, including expats, who are trying their luck in the emirate.

Outside the store, a board is displayed stating, “If you are unemployed and looking for a job, drop by for a meal on us. Don’t think of it as charity, you can come back to pay us whenever you can.”

The management does not even require jobseekers to present IDs or documents to prove that they are indeed unemployed or looking for a job.

Job seekers can choose from a wide range of meals including vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals and rice meals.

Pakistani-Canadian entrepreneur Kamal Rizvi revealed that he started the initiative after one of his regular customers stopped coming to the restaurant after losing his job.

His previous customer said that without a job, he could no longer pay for the meals in the restaurant.

When he invited the customer for a free meal, he was inspired with the change in the attitude of the person.

From then on, he decided to make it a tradition to offer job seekers free meals to give them hope and to make them feel that other people are out there to help.

“You know the best way of kindness, the best type of good to do is to do good for people without expecting anything in return and to believe that that good would spread all throughout the world,” said Al Ameri.
