Duterte honors wounded soldiers of Basilan bombing

President Rodrigo Duterte offered comfort and condolences to the fallen of the Basilan bombing last week. The President consoled the families of the casualties at Camp Navarro General Hospital in Zamboanga on Saturday, August 4.

President Duterte posthumously awarded the Order of Lapu-Lapu Kalasag Medal to Cpl. Samad Jumah, Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliary (CAA) Muid Monda, CAA Adian Abdulla, CAA Hermilita Gapo Jr., and CAA Omar Teteng.

The Kalasag Medal is awarded to officials and personnel of the government and private individuals who lost their lives as a direct result of their participation in an activity pursuant to the advocacy of the President.

CAA Teteng’s son, Jay-ar was promised an educational assistance and allowance by the President. He also gave financial assistance to the nephew of a civilian who perished in the blast.

Duterte also checked the condition of the military and awarded the Order of Lapu-Lapu Kampilan Medal to the six wounded military officers: 1Lt. Rojean Rodriguez, Sgt. Mike Elumba, Sgt. Renante Escañan, Cpl. Romeo Tabon Jr., PFC Jeffrey Martecio, and PFC Rody Frias and three CAA: CAA Wilbert Garcia, CAA Gregorio Inso, and CAA Gerry Inso Sr.

The Kampilan Medal is awarded to officials and personnel of the government and private individuals who were seriously wounded, injured, or suffered great loss of property in their participation in the President’s advocacy.

Duterte reminded the soldiers and the CAA to be careful in performing their duties. He also hopes for the quick recovery of the wounded.
