PH Consulate to transfer to bigger office in Dubai

The Philippine Consulate will be moving to a new location in Dubai, according to Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes.

The move aims to accommodate the needs of the growing number of overseas Filipino workers in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, reported Khaleej Times.

There are at least 450,000 Filipinos in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, according to the consulate.

Cortes said the consulate receives around 700 to 800 visitors per day. He added that 280 Filipinos visit the consulate for passport-related services alone.

Last year, they processed around 72,000 passport applications and renewals.

The Consul General added that new office will serve as a Philippine center in Dubai wherein OFWs can also visit other Philippine government offices, such as POLO and OWWA under one roof.

Further details about the relocation of the Philippine Consulate are yet to be released.
