Authorities in UAE call out couple over wedding dance video

Fujairah Police called the attention of a couple in the UAE after a video of the two dancing during a wedding circulated online.

The couple were given notes on the customs and traditions in the UAE.

The authorities said the viral video, which shows the groom carrying the bride in his arms while dancing to Arabic music, “shows behaviour contrary to the customs and traditions of the UAE”.

After the incident, police called on the public to observe and respect UAE values.

The UAE Cybercrime Law No. 5 of 2012, issued by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, states that violators may face fines from Dh50,000 to Dh3 million and/or jail time depending on the severity of the violation.
