Meteor shower to be visible tonight until Jan. 4

Good news for all stargazers! The annual Quadrantid meteor shower is set to light up the skies this week according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Around 40 to 100 shooting stars are expected to be seen worldwide. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) dubbed this as “one of the best annual meteor showers”.

While it has been happening since January 1, the peak of its visibility will be tonight January 3 at 9 p.m. until the early hours of January 4, Thursday.

The Quadrantid meteor shower is expected to last for few hours in the Earth’s atmosphere.

Stargazers and anticipators are advised to catch the meteor shower in a very dark area where light pollution is low. It is also advisable to lie back to really see and appreciate the beauty of the stars.

Quadrantid meteor shower are made up of dust and debris that came from asteroid 2003 EH 1 which NASA described as a dead comet.
