Eight out of 10 Filipinos said they are satisfied with democracy works in our country, according to the latest survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations.
Despite the high number, the number of Filipinos satisfied with how democracy works in the country dropped in June after registering a record high in September last 2016.
The poll conducted on June 23 to 26 through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adults saw 80 percent satisfied Filipinos, a six points lower than the 86 percent Filipinos satisfied with the democracy in the Philippines last September 2016.
According to SWS, most respondents said “democracy is always preferable to any other kind of government.”
The poll also observed that 61 percent of the respondents said democracy is their preferred kind of government over other choices.
On the other hand, 19 percent of respondents said that authoritarian government is acceptable “under some circumstances”.
The survey had sampling error margins of ±3 percent for national percentages and ±6 percent each for Metro Manila, Balance of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
