Taiwan soon to waive visa requirements for Filipinos

Filipino tourists and workers can soon enter Taiwan visa-free through the Taiwanese government’s visa-liberalization initiatives.

Taiwan is expected to formally announce the rollout of the visa-free entry to Taiwan in September this year, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines Representative Dr. Gary Song-Huann Lin said on July 5.

Taiwan previously said the initiative seeks to ease the entrance of Filipinos to Taiwan and boost the tourism exchange between the two countries.

“It is time for the Philippines and Taiwan to beef up our traditionally long-standing friendship,” Dr. Lin said during the 2017 Taiwan Tourism Workshop held in Manila.

Lin added that the joint efforts of the two countries will strengthen not only tourism but also exchanges of culture, education, trade, and investments.
