Sharjah Police launch month-long anti-drug awareness campaign

Sharjah Police have launched a month-long awareness campaign aimed at combating drug abuse and increasing public understanding of the dangers posed by narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

The initiative is being led by the Directorate of Prevention and Drug Control in cooperation with the Security Media Department and strategic partners, including Sharjah Islamic Bank and City Centre Al Zahia.

Authorities said the campaign seeks to strengthen a culture of prevention within the community while highlighting the role of families, schools and social institutions in identifying risks early and educating young people about the consequences of drug abuse.

The program forms part of broader national efforts to combat narcotics through awareness and educational initiatives designed to build a safer and more informed society.

Throughout the campaign, Sharjah residents will be engaged through a series of activities, including educational programs, awareness messages distributed through social media platforms and informational materials promoting responsible behavior and social responsibility.

Officials said the initiative also aims to reinforce public rejection of illegal drugs and encourage community participation in prevention efforts.

Sharjah Police emphasized that addressing drug-related issues requires more than law enforcement action alone and must include preventive, humanitarian and therapeutic approaches.

Authorities said the campaign seeks to protect individuals, support those seeking recovery and assist former users in reintegrating into society.

As part of the initiative, Sharjah Police encouraged individuals in need of advice, treatment or rehabilitation services to contact a dedicated hotline, assuring callers that all cases would be handled confidentially.

Support services include treatment assistance, rehabilitation programs, social reintegration initiatives and measures intended to reduce the risk of relapse.

Police also called on members of the public to participate in campaign activities and help promote awareness within their communities.

Officials said community engagement remains essential to protecting young people, enhancing public safety and advancing the emirate’s goal of building a drug-free society.
