Dubai Police has alerted residents about a surge in fraudulent insurance firms, urging the public to verify licenses and official documentation before making any payments.
The warning is part of the ongoing #BewareofFraud campaign, which highlights how unlicensed operators are increasingly exploiting social media to promote misleading offers and scam customers.
According to authorities, these fake companies often advertise vehicle or health insurance at prices well below market rates, claiming instant coverage through attractive deals. Victims are then persuaded to transfer money without confirming the legitimacy of the provider.
Dubai Police stressed that all licensed insurance companies in the UAE operate under strict regulatory supervision and follow formal procedures to issue policies while safeguarding customer rights.
Residents are advised to verify the credentials of any insurance company or broker before completing transactions and to be wary of offers that seem too good to be true.
Specialized police teams are actively monitoring fraudulent activities and taking legal action against offenders. The public is encouraged to report suspected scams via the eCrime platform or by calling 901 for non-emergency cases.
