UAE back to Philippines’ ‘Yellow list’ effective January 16

Filipino expats returning home starting January 16 will be subjected to a five to seven-day quarantine after the UAE was removed from the Philippines’ green list. The country wasn’t found in either the green or red lists as per the newly released Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) Resolution 157-B – which takes effect on January 16 and will last through January 31.

The Philippines has also implemented new PCR test requirements and COVID-19 guidelines for arriving travelers.

Instead of the prior 72-hour test validity requirement, all arriving passengers must now provide a negative result from a PCR test done 48 hours before departure.

The following are the new COVID-19 protocols for Filipino travelers traveling from countries on the red, yellow, or green list starting from January 16, 2022:

Yellow list countries: All countries not listed in PH’s Green or Red lists, including the UAE

Fully vaccinated:

• Negative PCR result taken 48 hours prior to departure

• Hotel/facility-based quarantine upon arrival, with PCR test taken on the fifth day (arrival day will be counted as day one)

• Upon receiving negative test result, the individual can go home to quarantine until Day 7.

Unvaccinated, partially vaccinated, and those whose vaccination status cannot be validated

• Negative PCR result taken 48 hours prior to departure

• Hotel/facility-based quarantine upon arrival, with PCR test taken on the seventh day (arrival day will be counted as day one)

• Upon receiving negative test result, the individual can go home to quarantine until Day 14.

Red list countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Curacao, Malta, Puerto Rico, Spain, Aruba, French Guiana, Mayotte, Saudi Arabia, U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada, Iceland, Mozambique, Somalia.
Green list countries

Fully vaccinated:

• Negative PCR result taken 48 hours prior to departure

• Hotel/facility-based quarantine upon arrival, with PCR test taken on the seventh day (arrival day will be counted as day one)

• Upon receiving negative test result, the individual can go home to quarantine until Day 14.

Unvaccinated, partially vaccinated, and those whose vaccination status cannot be validated

• Negative PCR result taken 48 hours prior to departure

• Hotel/facility-based quarantine upon arrival, with PCR test taken on the seventh day (arrival day will be counted as day one)

• Upon receiving negative test result, the individual is still mandated to remain in facility-based quarantine until 10th day. Only then can the individual go home to quarantine until Day 14.

Green List Countries: Bangladesh, British Virgin Islands, Djibouti, Gambia, Hong Kong, Japan, Montserrat, Oman, Saba (Special Municipality of the Kingdom of the Netherlands), Sierra Leone, Timor-Leste, Benin, China, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, India, Kosovo, Morocco, Pakistan, Saint Barthelemy, Sint Eustatius, Uganda, Bhutan, Cote d’Ivoire, Falkland Islands, Guinea, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Niger, Paraguay, Senegal, Taiwan

Fully vaccinated:

• Negative PCR result taken 48 hours prior to departure

• No need for Hotel/facility-based quarantine upon arrival.

• The individual must stay at home to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms until day 7.

• No further PCR test results required

Unvaccinated, partially vaccinated, and those whose vaccination status cannot be validated:

• Negative PCR result taken 48 hours prior to departure

• Hotel/facility-based quarantine upon arrival, with PCR test taken on the fifth day (arrival day will be counted as day one)

• Upon receiving negative test result, the individual can go home to quarantine until Day 14.
