Presidential aspirant and Vice President Leni Robredo slammed the government’s indecisiveness when it comes to the government’s policy on face shield use.
“Ako, sa totoo lang, medyo naasiwa ako na at this point, issue pa din sa atin iyong face shield. Imbes sana na pagkakagastusan natin iyon, idagdag na lang natin sa pondo sa bakuna,” Robredo said.
Robredo also asked her two advisers, who are former health secretaries, to share their thoughts on face shields.
“Para sa akin, puwede nang walang face shield. Gumamit lang ng mask,” Manuel Dayrit said.
Former health secretary Esperanza Capral also supported Dayrit’s position on face shields.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has signed an order removing the mandatory face shield policy in the city except for hospital settings.
Moreno cited the stand of the Department of Interior and Local Government supporting the removal of the face shield requirement.
Davao and Iloilo City have already removed the mandatory face shield policy pending the decision of the Inter-Agency Task Force on the face shield policy.
The Department of Health said that they still need a week to finalize its decision on the mandatory face shield policy use.
So far, current guidelines allow not wearing of the plastic barriers in outdoor areas.
