A woman in Thailand has been charged with human trafficking for allegedly forcing her teenage granddaughter to sleep with a loan shark and her other friend as payment for her debts.
This 57-year-old woman from Pattaya also faces prostitution charges after her daughter—the child’s mother—reported her to the Paveena Foundation for Children and Women. The daughter said she heard about the incident from her relatives and neighbors.
She added that the grandmother owed a lot of money to loan sharks due to gambling, and that even she was encouraged to sleep with her creditors. The woman, however, gave up trying to force her when she got married.
The 16-year-old granddaughter also filed a report to the police 20 days after the incident, noting she was forced to sleep with men her grandmother owed money to.
