Kuwait seizes over 2 million tobacco boxes

Kuwaiti port customs authorities on Sunday seized more than two million tobacco boxes, which dealers tried to smuggle into the Gulf emirate in two large containers.

Customs men decided to open the two containers after suspecting they contained illegal items at Shuwaikh Port, local newspapers reported.

They discovered the two 40-foot containers contained nearly 2.1 million tobacco boxes which were illegally shipped to the emirate as they are not compatible with tobacco specifications in the emirate.

The Arabic language daily Alanba said the two containers had originated from another Gulf country but it did not identify that country or the dealers.
