NASA to start sending tourists to space next year

NASA will start sending tourists to the International Space Station (ISS) starting next year.

The U.S. space agency said that it will allow two paying passengers a year to live in a $150 billion worth of space laboratory.

The entire trip is equivalent to one month. But the trip will be costly amounting to $35,000 per night or almost 2 million pesos per night.

“Today is a very remarkable day. NASA is opening the International Space Station to commercial opportunities and marketing these opportunities as we’ve never done before,” NASA’s Chief Finance Officer Jeff De Witt announced last week.

The program hopes to introduce a new business model to create more commercial and marketing opportunities.

The Space agency is now in talks with Boeing and Elon Musk-owned SpaceX to create the commercial space program.

The proposal gained a lot of interest from private companies and should the program sustains its momentum the possibility of another landing in the moon will take place some time in 2024.
