Mom battling cancer halts chemotherapy, attends son’s graduation

Manila, Philippines- It’s every parent’s dream to go up on the stage and witness their child’s graduation: the mother of Ricard Ace Bolo is no exception, despite the cancer she’s battling, that is.

In his now viral twitter post, Bolo shares how worried he was that his mom could not make it.

“Months ago, my mom was admitted at the hospital and was in extremely critical condition because of her cancer. She’d always say na baka ‘di na siya aabot sa graduation ko, but I always replied “Lumaban ka! Sa Mayo aakyat ka pa sa stage at sasabitan mo ako ng medal,” Bolo said in a tweet.

And in a half a minute clip of Bolo’s graduation, he was seen walking his mom crying because he knew that they both won.

“Nothing in my life is as priceless as this moment. I’m not just proud of myself, but also my mom for fighting the battle every single day. I’d witness her pain and suffering every after chemo, and although she may seem weak on the outside, she is a million times stronger inside,” Bolo said in another twit.

Bolo also said that he even shaved his head in support of his mom’s battle.

“She’s actually the main reason why I shaved off my head! Ya’ll know the reason na to my charms, strength, and wits. I am so proud to say na minana ko yon from her.

“Graduation kanina, Chemo nanaman bukas. Lalaban lagi, hinding hindi susuko. Mahal na mahal na mahal kita, Mommy! ?” Bolo said in a twit, acknowledging that after their special day his mom would another battle the next day.

Netizens salute Bolo’s fighting spirit and they wish them to stay strong.

Bolo’s post and video has now more than 300 thousand views and 50 thousand reactions on Twitter.
