Filipino singer Darren Espanto took to Instagram to share a special video message which he received from award-winning composer Alan Menken.

It can be recalled that Espanto, together with Morissette Amon, were chosen to sing the local version of “A Whole New World” as part of the promotion for the live-action reboot of “Aladdin”.

However, it was only Amon who was able to meet Menken and “Aladdin” star Will Smith in Tokyo, Japan for a short interview.

Nevertheless, the teen singer still feels grateful after he got a recorded message from Menken praising him for his rendition of his song, “A Whole New World.”

“Hi Darren. Such a shame we weren’t able to meet. I heard your rendition of ‘A Whole New World’ with Morissette, and you guys did such an amazing job. I’m just hoping we get to meet in the near future. All the best,” Menken said in the video.

For his part, Espanto captioned the video expressing what he felt after he saw the video.

“My jaw dropped. Here’s a message I got from Sir Alan Menken; the original composer and producer of ‘A Whole New World’! Thank you so much for the kind words, Sir! Hope to meet you soon!” he said.
