Dubai Police arrest 550 criminals in 2018 thru artificial intelligence

Dubai Police on Saturday, October 6, reported that the force was able to arrest 550 people in 2018 with the help of artificial intelligence.

Of the 550 people arrested this year, 109 were criminals considered as “wanted” while 441 were arrested for various crimes.

The technology also helped decrease the number of “disturbing crimes” from 25 in 2017 to only one this year, reported Khaleej Times.

Through artificial intelligence, the Police’s smart system is able to recognize faces of individuals allowing the authorities to separate criminals and civilians.

In April, Dubai Police recovered Dh7 million cash and nabbed a ten-member gang who duped two Asian brothers interested to buy Bitcoin.

The victims were invited by the gang to visit their office in Al Muraqabbat. Six members of the gang met the victims while the others stayed outside.

Upon the brothers’ arrival, the gang assaulted them, took their cash, and fled.

The robbers had been successful in taking the money of the two Asian men, but their luck ran out when Dubai Police quickly foiled their plan.

Authorities were able to recover the stolen cash and nabbed all ten members of the gang for theft within 48 hours.
