The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has given Proponent Infracorp Development Inc., the infrastructure arm of Andrew Tan-led Alliance Global, “original proponent status” for the P3-billion two-kilometer Skytrain monorail project that will connect two of Metro Manila’s busiest business districts.
“We laud the government’s quick action to the proposal. This is another clear indication of the government’s serious commitment and focus on infrastructure developments,” Infracorp President Kevin Tan said, as reported by The Philippine Star
“There is really an urgent need to connect the two major business districts of Makati and Taguig, and this project will make that into a reality,” Tan added.
The Fort Bonifacio-Guadalupe skytrain is seen to ease commuters’ travel time to five minutes from uptown Fort Bonifacio to the MRT station in Guadalupe, Makati and vice versa.
The project will utilize automated cable-propelled monorail technology, at no cost to the government.
Around 60,000 to 100,000 passengers are expected to benefit from the train project.
Construction for the monorail es expected to begin later this year and to be completed by 2021, Proponent Infracorp Development Inc. announced.
Infracorp submitted its unsolicited proposal for the project in October last year.
Aside from the monorail project, Infracorp is also keen on investing in other infrastructure projects in business districts in Metro Manila and in other key growth areas in the country.
