PDP-Laban reveals 2019 senatorial slate

Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) has revealed their senatorial line-up for the 2019 national elections.

During the oathtaking of new PDP-Laban members in Caloocan City, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez named members of the PDP-Laban’s Senate slate including Senate President Koko Pimentel, former MMDA chair Francis Tolentino, Oriental Mindoro Rep. Reynaldo Umali, Maguindanao Rep. Zajid “Dong” Mangudadatu, Bataan Rep. Geraldine Roman, Davao Rep. Karlo Nograles, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque and special assistant to the president Bong Go.

Earlier, Pimentel revealed that Negros Occidental 3rd District Representative Albee Benitez and House Majority Leader Rodolfo Fariñas will also be part of the slate.

No information has been released if Benitez and Fariñas have been dropped from the slate.

Pimentel’s re-election, however, is still questioned as rules state that a senator can only run for two consecutive terms.

The Senate president argued that he only served 1 year and 10 months during his first term.

Current president Rodrigo Duterte won the presidential elections under the PDP-Laban in 2013.

Moreover, the party also leads the supermajority in the House of Representatives.
