Google has launched the Qibla Finder app to help Muslims know the direction of the Kaaba when they pray wherever they are.
The app works on mobile browsers so the app can be downloaded on any mobile phone model.
The app is simpler to use than compass apps. If used on an Android phone, the app’s augmented reality technology draws a clear blue line in the imagery the phone camera sees to point users towards the Kaaba. Qibla Finder users don’t need to save any picture or imagery to find the direction of the Kaaba.
On iPhones, the Qibla Finder app also works but without the imagery.
The launch of the app is part of Google’s series of updates on apps for people observing Ramadan.
Google also has the Ramadan Hub website, which was launched in 2014 to help users navigate the different ways Google can help them during Ramadan, according to Arabian Business.
