TPS marks 9th anniversary, moves to bigger campus

The Philippine School (TPS), moved from its small gated compound in Rashidiya, Dubai, to a bigger location in Muhaisnah 2 as it celebrated its 9th founding anniversary on Feb. 25.

With a three-storey building sectioned to over 83 classrooms and laboratories, the new TPS campus can accommodate about 2,500 students from levels KG to Grade 12, according to Richard Zulueta, assistant principal for student affairs.

“We are very happy that we can now accommodate a large number of students given the quantity of our classrooms. TPS campus also has huge grounds that have two covered basketball courts, two volleyball courts, a football field, and a playground for KG pupils. The grounds also have a covered parking area for our buses,” Zulueta said.

Zulueta said TPS is in the first phase of its campus expansion which is hoped to be completed before 2020.

“Next phase would be the construction of the next building and the third phase will be the construction of the indoor auditorium and indoor basketball gymnasium that can accommodate at least 2,000 people. We are looking into a bigger and better The Philippine School in the next couple of years,” he said.

With the theme “Moving Forward Beyond Its Legacy,” TPS marked its 9th founding anniversary with various activities for its students and pupils before about 10,000 guests highlighted by a students’ mass dance competition.

Different activities were also held including Mr. and Ms. TPS pageant for elementary and high school students, a variety show, a singing contest, and sports events. A mini bazaar participated in by more than 30 sellers, some of them parents of TPS students, was also set up within the campus grounds. Students also enjoyed the fun rides and fun booths in the whole duration of the anniversary week. (Henri Abenis-Macahilo)
