Sara Duterte visits earthquake-hit residents in Sarangani

Vice President Sara Duterte visited residents affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Sarangani, Davao Occidental on Sunday, as recovery efforts continue in areas devastated by the disaster.

Photos released by the Sarangani Information Office showed Duterte meeting with and checking on families affected by the earthquake.

The local government expressed gratitude for the vice president’s visit and support for residents recovering from the calamity.

“Ang inyong presensya ay nagbibigay ng lakas at pag-asa sa aming komunidad habang patuloy ang pagbangon mula sa kalamidad,” the office said in a statement.

The magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck near Maasim, Sarangani on June 8, causing widespread damage across several parts of Mindanao and prompting large-scale relief and recovery operations.

Duterte has also visited other earthquake-hit areas in recent days.

According to local officials, the Office of the Vice President has provided assistance to affected communities, including relief goods and mobile kitchen services for displaced families.

Government agencies continue to conduct damage assessments and distribute aid as communities work to recover from one of the strongest earthquakes to hit Mindanao in recent years.
