The United Arab Emirates has launched its largest-ever government training program aimed at equipping 80,000 federal employees with artificial intelligence skills as part of a nationwide digital transformation drive.
The initiative was announced during a Cabinet meeting at Qasr Al Watan chaired by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
According to Sheikh Mohammed, the program forms part of the UAE’s broader “Government 4.0” strategy launched under the directives of Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to position the country among the world’s leading governments in adopting “agentic AI” technologies across public sector operations and services.
During the meeting, the Cabinet approved a national framework assigning ministries and federal entities roles in implementing the transformation project, which aims to integrate agentic AI technologies into 50 percent of government services and operational processes.
The training program will cover ministers, senior executives, and employees across ministries, authorities, and federal agencies to accelerate the country’s digital transformation efforts.
The Cabinet also approved the first package of AI-powered government service bundles intended for citizens, residents, businesses, and investors.
In the healthcare sector, the government adopted a national policy to strengthen AI integration through the development of an AI-powered medical system, expansion of digital healthcare infrastructure, and training of healthcare professionals in advanced AI technologies.
Sheikh Mohammed said the UAE’s transition toward “UAE Government 4.0” has officially begun, adding that a national retreat would soon be convened to discuss the transformation strategy further.
He added that Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan would oversee the transformation initiative as the UAE pushes to become “the best government in the world” in adopting agentic artificial intelligence technologies.
