The proposed national budget for next year sets aside PHP45 billion for the purchase of COVID-19 booster shots, Malacañang said Thursday.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque assured that there will be “no issue” on COVID-19 booster shots as every inoculated Filipino will be able to receive it.
“We have a budget entry for booster shots for all Filipinos. This is for the procurement of COVID-19 vaccine booster shots. Kasama ‘yan sa proposed 2022 budget,” Roque said in a press briefing.
“In the 2022 budget, we have a budget entry for booster shots for all Filipinos. Ang halaga po ng booster shot is P45 billion,” he added.
According to Roque, a total of P240 billion of the proposed 2022 national budget will be for the country’s pandemic response.
The World Health Organization has not indicated the need for COVID-19 booster shots since many individuals considered to belong in the vulnerable sector have yet to be inoculated.
The proposed 2022 national budget is expected to be transmitted by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to Congress on Monday, August 23.
