The UAE police have arrested a gang of seven members who swindled people through non-existent fake prize rackets.
The gang members were arrested through a joint operation of Ajman Police and Abu Dhabi Police.
Authorities said the suspects lured their victims by promising them cash prizes after sharing their bank account and card details, or asking them to wire money.
They were arrested in their hideout in Ajman’s Al Rashidiya through a tip-off from an informant.
The police discovered 19 cellular phones and 70 SIM cards that the gang used in their illegal racket. They found that the suspects used corrupted sim cads to avoid being detected.
Their case has been referred to public prosecution office.
