The Dubai Court of First Instance has sentenced a man to three months in jail after he was found guilty for sexually assaulting a pregnant woman in the Dubai Metro.
In a report by Khaleej Times, the incident took place last March. The man who was only identified as an Arab went very close to a pregnant woman and repeatedly pressed his body against her will.
“It was around 5:45pm. Shortly after boarding and as I was standing, I felt someone touching me. I looked behind me and saw him. Even though there was enough space to keep distance, he just stood very close,” the pregnant woman whose identity was withheld recalled.
“ I also knew he did it on purpose from the way he looked at me,” she said.
He ran away when she started shouting and captured people’s attention.
The police were able to track down the suspect through CCTV cameras in the area.
The case was first reported at Bur Dubai police station.
The court ordered the man’s deportation after serving his jail term.
The suspect can still appeal the court’s decision.
