Pasig City mayor-elect Vico Sotto has broken the 27-year hold of the Eusebio clan in Pasig City.
In a report on GMA News TV’s Investigative Documentaries, aside from him, there are other members of the clan who will begin their term of office by end of this month, these include incumbent Parañaque councilor Viktor Eriko “Wahoo” Sotto, Quezon City vice mayor-elect Gian Sotto, and Quezon City’s 3rd District Councilor Diorella “Lala” Sotto.
Of course, their uncle Vicente “Tito” Sotto III is the incumbent Senate President.
Vico Sotto said a Sotto dynasty will not be established in Pasig.
“Ako lang naman ang Sotto sa Pasig… Definitely hangga’t ako ang nakaupo dito sa Pasig wala akong ibang immediate family or malalapit na kamag-anak na tatakbo dito. Hindi ako papayag,” he said.
The Sotto family tree include several politicians.
The great grandfather of Vico, Filemon Sotto, was a councilor and municipal vice president of Cebu. He also was the congressman of Cebu’s 3rd District from 1907 to 1916, then later joined the Senate from 1916 to 1922.
Filemon’s brother, Vicente Sotto, was Cebu town’s councilor in 1902, then mayor in 1907 before being elected as a congressman. The tertiary hospital in Cebu was named after him.
Vicente’s grandson, the incumbent Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto II, was vice mayor of Quezon City from 1988 to 1992. He was first elected senator in 1992.
Tito Sotto’s brother Valmar “Val” Sotto was councilor of Parañaque’s 2nd District from 2004 to 2013.
