Philippine Airlines (PAL) has issued an official statement following the temporary closure of the Clark International Airport due to on-going repairs after the impact of the 6.3 magnitude earthquake that damaged several areas of the airport, as shown in photos that have circulated on social media.
Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) have since pinpointed the quake’s epicenter at the Castillejos town in Zambales province.
As a safety measure for their passengers, PAL has advised that their flight schedules for today, Tuesday, April 23 at Clark International Airport have been cancelled.
The airline also assures the public that their flights to and from Manila via the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) remain unchanged.
“Due to the Central Luzon (Philippines) earthquake, the Clark airport authority has declared the temporary closure of Clark International Airport (CRK) until 7:40 pm local time of April 23 (Tuesday), pending the assessment and repair of the damage incurred by the Clark terminal building.

“Please be advised that PR493 – an Incheon to Clark flight – will be diverting to Manila with an estimated arrival time at 2:00AM April 23. Arrival will be at NAIA T2.
“Manila Airport terminals did not incur any damage; flight operations to / from Manila remain normal.
“Passengers may: a) rebook their flights within 30 days on the same cabin class, without fees b) refund their tickets (full fare including taxes and surcharges) or c) reroute their flights on the same cabin class within 3 days, without fees ( rerouting is done to alternative destinations within the same zone). Around 5 people have been confirmed dead so far due to the earthquake.
