Sharjah court issues death penalty to 8 men in armed robbery

Eight men were recently sentenced with death penalty by the Criminal Court of Sharjah after being found guilty for robbing a money exchange center located at Sharjah.

In a report from Emarat Al Youm, the men were accused of public assault, armed robbery, and seizing money by force.

Some of the accused confessed to their crime while several others completely denied any involvement at the charges.

Police investigation reports reveal that the movement and actions of the accused were monitored and recorded through the surveillance cameras and found matching fingerprints that identified the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, another defendant was sentenced to six months of imprisonment to be followed by a deportation order for possession of stolen money for his involvement in the case as an accessory to the crime.

The court found out that the accused had Dh 60,000 in his overseas account to which he vehemently denied the charges and pointed fingers to one of the accuser’s brothers who asked him to do the transfer.

A part of the stolen cash had since been returned by one of the defendants.
