Man in Bahrain arrested after spreading rumors on social media

The Public Prosecution Office in Bahrain arrested a man after posting false and malicious news in his social media account, Bahrain News Agency reports.

According to Abdullah Al Thawadi, Public Prosecutor, the Cyber Crime Directorate has alerted them after seeing the man’s post in his social media account that could harm Bahrain’s national security, public order, and interest.

Investigations disclosed that the man had posted an information questioning existing government policies and its external relations. He had also published malicious news that can affect the confidence of the people in the capabilities of the coalition forces.

The man is now with the Public Prosecution for questioning and further investigation. He has also been charged with circulating false news in wartime that would damage security and public order.
