Ces Drilon one of the first employees let go by ABS-CBN following franchise denial

ABS-CBN has announced that it is letting go of several employees, and among those who will lose their jobs is veteran broadcast journalist Ces Oreña-Drilon.
Oreña-Drilon was the former anchor for ABS-CBN’s “Bandila” who currently serves as the executive editor of the ANC-X website. She also headed ABS-CBN company’s lifestyle ecosystem.
“This was one of the toughest days I had to face. Telling fellow kapamilyas that they would lose their jobs by end of August. I lost mine too,” tweeted Oreña-Drilon.

Fellow journalist and anchor Karen Davila responded to her tweet, stating that it broke her heart when she learned about the developments.
“This is heartbreaking. @cesdrilon it’s been an honor to be alongside you in Bandila. You are an ABSCBN news icon and inspiration. I am preparing my heart as well for the worst and will stand by ABSCBN til the end ??.” tweeted Davila.
ABS-CBN announced that on August 31, 2020, it would be laying off a number of its employees following the non-renewal of its 25-year franchise in the Congress.

The media giant has yet to announce specific numbers on employees who will lose their jobs, but assured the public that each employee will be given separation and retirement benefits.
