Interior Secretary Eduardo is the latest top government official who tested positive for the coronavirus disease or COVID-19.
“Last March 26, 2020, after learning that 4 persons I had associated with tested positive for COVID-19, I started my 14 day self-quarantine. On March 27, I got tested. Today, March 31, I received the result from RITM informing me that I am positive for COVID-19,” Año said in a statement.

The DILG chief also appealed to those whom he came close contact with and go into self-quarantine.
“I make this announcement to call the attention of all persons I had close contact with to go on self-quarantine and observe any symptoms, in accordance with DOH guidelines,” Año said.

The Interior secretary added that he is doing fine and remains to show no symptoms. He will still work from home according to the statement.
“The result of my test will not in any way dampen my spirit and energy to do my job I am advising everyone to STAY AT HOME and FOLLOW SOCIAL DISTANCING. Your strong commitment will help defeat the virus. Thank you for your support, and God bless us all,” he said.
