‘Black box’ from crashed jet in Laguna found, names of fatalities revealed

Investigators with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) today said they have been able to retrieve the flight data recorder or black box of the small plane that crashed in Calamba City, Laguna yesterday afternoon that killed nine people.

A plane’s black box is crucial in explaining what went wrong with the plane before it went crashing into a resort.

The plane was on its way back to Manila from Dipolog City when the mishap happened. The aircraft is classified as a King AIR 350, a medical evacuation plane with 11 seats.

Police released a list of names of the fatalities from the plane crash including: Capt. Jesus Hernandez (pilot), First Officer Lino Cruz Jr. (co-pilot), Dr. Garret Garcia, M.D., Kirk Eoin Badilla (nurse), Yamato Togawa (nurse), Ryx Gil Laput, Raymond Bulacja, Tom Carr (patient) and Erma Carr (patient’s wife).
